It's been a few years now since I've been active in the AI and crypto space. It's ironic that both are emerging from a chrysalis around the same time, but maybe not surprising. The two technologies are opposites in many ways. AI represents centralization, top-down control, vacuuming up information from all over the internet into one source. Led by tech overlords. Great on use cases that hinge on the center.
Crypto/blockchain represents decentralization. Bottom-up cooperation. Activity is driven by the consensus of the many. The long tail has a say. The edge cases get recognized. Hard to be an overlord. We saw the spectacular fall of SBF, Galaxy Investments and others. Crypto is a disruptor business model, led by “rebels”, that is at odds with the incumbent’s business model of command and control.
At the same time, AI and Crypto can be compliments and augment each other. They have touch points. One can envision a scenario where blockchain contracts or proofs tied to certain data and media can be used to track the use of that data in LLMs and reinforce the credibility of the LLM. This can solve some of the PII usage and compensation, and fake data issues. Meanwhile, AI can help optimize these smart contracts by analyzing vast amounts of data to create more efficient and responsive contract terms and check for anomalies or backdoors in the code.
There are many more touchpoints between the two disciplines with respect Compute, Data and ML models. I am working with a team to launch a soon to be announced venture that will formalize my work with businesses that want to get in the AI game plus build an investment DAO. Looking for strategic partners. Stay tuned.
